Manual Handling Awareness Training Construction workers

This short, practical Manual Handling Awareness course has been designed specifically for the construction industry, where poor manual handling techniques contribute to over 42% of serious workers compensation claims.

Our trainers employ advanced training aids such as a Vertebral Simulator, which is used to show the effects (on the back) of both good and poor manual handling techniques. Participants will see how easy it is to slip, pinch or tear a disc or stretch ligaments, if they employ poor techniques.

After a brief overview of manual handling controls and a practical demonstration of safe manual handling techniques, participants practice lifting typical items found on a construction site.

Course Topics:

  • What is a Hazardous Manual Task
  • How the human spine works and why it is so susceptible to injury
  • What causes manual handling injuries in the construction industry
  • How to prevent manual handling injuries
  • Practical demonstration of safe manual handling techniques
  • Practical exercises
