This one day course is an excellent refresher for existing safety committee members and covers WHS legislation, how to undertake effective Risk Assessments and safety inspections. It also covers how to communicate effectively in the workplace.
1. An overview of WHS Legislation
What’s new, understanding key terms, overview of codes of practice and WHS prosecutions.
2. Establishing Consultative Arrangements in the workplace
Establishing an effective HSC and ideas for improving consultation with the workforce.
3. Implementing WHS Risk Management
How to identify hazards and control them, the twelve steps to undertaking effective safety inspections and how SWMSs and/or SWPs can lead to a safer workplace.
4. Communicating effectively in the workplace
Barriers to effective communication and how to overcome them, how to challenge unsafe behaviour and how to undertake effective meetings.
Existing committee members and HSC members who have completed training previously and need a refresher.
This course is delivered in English and includes a written assessment. Participants will require comprehension, reading and writing skills to successfully complete the training. There are no other prerequisites or co-requisites.
